I am a guest lecturer in family law at the college level, past Chair of the Family Law Section and current Director of the High Desert Bar Association, and I constantly advance my knowledge – and stay on top of the "details" CA Family Law’s ever-changing body of knowledge -- through my commitment to continuing legal education. 

​​Sherry A. Thompson, California Certified Family Law Specialist have been a licensed Attorney at Law since December 3, 1982 and a Certified Family Law Specialist handling only family law cases. Although I was certified in 1995, my practice focused on family law matters since 1984 and I have practiced family law exclusively since 1988. Prior education in psychology has also provided me with a  background for a better understanding of family law issues, especially the psychological issues which may relate to child custody evaluations.

I recognize the ongoing attachments which continue in most family law cases after the case is finished, and therefore I strive to achieve fair and amicable settlements when possible.

Parents should not have to spend their children's college education funds to obtain a fair division of property or a proper California child custody or visitation order. When settlements cannot be achieved, then I will aggressively and comprehensively represent your case at court and through trial, if necessary. I thoroughly prepare for all my cases and therefore generally obtain favorable results in litigated cases.

I have never been sued for malpractice or disciplined by the State Bar and have consistently attends continuing legal education courses in my fields.

I have represented in excess of 1,500 parties and children in family law cases over the past twenty-three years.
